## My Review
Read in one setting. Rather brief read and a good one. A substantial portion of the book is much too contextual to WWII England although the content transcends this period. The best chapter for me was the shortest one of an experience of watching a prisoner sent to the gallows in Burma, possibly from his early days. Written as if it were an eyewitness account, it was a nice read. Portions of text show Orwell’s ideological positions vis-a-vis India...colonial apologism of sorts. Other parts are powerful critiques of the then English left-wing elite who were being apologists for what we recognise today as fascism. These portions and critiques were well written.
