# Hope In The Dark **Author:** Rebecca Solnit **Date Read:** 2020/03/29 **Rating:** 5/5 **Bookshelves:** ## My Review A lovely book and a must-read especially for those struggling with the difficulty of not being able to see substantial progress and movement across the various axes of social injustice around. This is my second Solnit and she doesn’t disappoint. Although the themes of hope in small stories are a tad bit repetitive, the narrative of positivity is gripping. The darkness she speaks about is an allusion to the unknown, more like blackness(references to Virginia Woolf) than to darkness as in terror/void...a lovely essay and I hope in some ways blunting my own cynicism and at times, despair.
