Deeply developed characters with intricate details of cancer treatment from multiple patient perspectives from the days of radiotherapy in 60s, with plenty of details on life in post-Stalin Russia. My first Solzhenitsyn. Long read and many characters not specifically “developed” for the sake of completeness but left to the readers imagination.
