C Madappa, Soliga leader, passes on

C Madappa, a stalwart among Soliga Adivasi leaders passed on; instrumental in forest rights struggles & socio-economic empowerment & for his grassroots organising of the Soliga, which he did to his last day; family & friends gather at Huyilnaatha, Hanur Tom to celebrate his life.

Learned a lot in his complany about building social movements, bringing people together, the micro-politics of everyday activism, about the difficulties of coalitions, alliances and the fragility of networks, as powerful as they can be…Madappa leaves many trails, among them the finest is the trail to collective self-assertion of Adivasi people of Chamarajanagar.
